Tilted Plate Interceptors What is TPI separator? Hence, TPI separator is a generic terminology used in such type of separators. The separator when used in separation of liquid – liquid phases (predominantly removal of free oil in oily water treatment) are called a TPI (Tilted plate interceptor) or a CPI separator. TPI (Tilted plate interceptor) separators are used predominantly to separate free oil from effluent. TPI unit is deployed at the primary stage of wastewater treatment wherein plate packs are used as the main separation device. Tilted Plate Interceptors are gravity separators utilizing the difference in specific gravity between two phases of liquid (predominantly removal of free oil in water) as the principle of separation. Gravity separation is a function of available surface area for separation.

Industrial process fluids contain various impurities like sulfur, ethane, carbon dioxide (CO2), water vapor, methane, etc. To maintain the quality of the final product, these impurities must be removed from the mixture. Coalescer plays an important role in separating these impurities from the mixture using the principle of coalescence. What is an Oil Coalescer? An oil coalescer is a filtration system that removes gasolene, diesel, non-emulsified oil, and fuels from a waste stream. Closely spaced oil attracting media is used in the oil coalescers to promote agglomeration of larger oil particles, which then flow up the surface. Coalescer is a superior separation technology that forces two tiny oil droplets to 'coalesce' to form a giant droplet to produce excellent oil and water separation.
